Some days you just need a music selection that will brighten your day. Today was one of those days and I turned to my dear friend BECK

Beck is an imaginative singer/songwriter. His music is so unique that it's hard to really describe him or to try and categorize what kind of sound he is. He is always evolving and it's always to something greater than he was before. I love his songs Devil's Haircut, E-Pro, Que Onda Guero, Girl, Missing and Loser. There are actually more songs I love but there are too many to name.
Check out the video to Girl HERE and you will see what I mean about his unique style and sound.
Enjoy!

(sing the title as you would the Mamas and Papas Monday Monday song)
Mondays are never my days. The end of the weekend and the beginning of a long work week. Here are a couple of things that I desperately need to keep me sane on this horrendous day of the week.
1. Starbuck's Caramel Frappacinos – I know they are like a million calories but they are so delicious and help me through the day.
2. My Pandora AC/DC radio station – because they are always playing some kick ass music that will keep me tapping my toes and remembering my days in Cabo for spring break 2006 (ahhhh the good ol' days!)
3. My coworker – because she keeps me laughing even though I would rather crawl back into bed.
4. The promise of seeing this cute boy that comes by the office occasionally! Sighting of cute boys will make any girls day, I think.
5. All the blogs I visit when I have a break. Such as, Kami and Margie's blog, Beautiful Creatures blog, V's Blog, PostSecret and obviously the Caster Girls blog and many other blogs that I don't have time to name.
What gets you through your most hellish day of the week???

Todays pick is THE SHINS!

How amazing is that picture of them! Anyways The Shins are actually one of my favorite band. They're music is very mellow and quirky. If you listen to their lyrics you will see what I mean. My favorite album by far is their Chutes too Narrow album and if you have not heard of The Shins until today then that is the album you should pick up, its brilliant. They're music is so mellow that they are a perfect listen to if you are stressed or need to get away. I find that while I listen to them I tend to forget about everything else around me and just focus on them. The lyrics are beautiful, their sound is harmonious.
I remember first hearing of them in Zach Braff's movie Garden State. There was one song in particular called Caring is Creepy that really got me while I was watching that movie. I went on a hunt to find out more about the band and to see what else they had out there. If you have not seen Garden State that is a must see!
Here is a list of songs you should listen to if you have not heard of The Shins:
1. Caring is Creepy
2. Fighting in a sack
3. Gone for Good
4. Kissing the lipless
5. Girl Inform Me
6. New Slang
7. Phantom Limb
8. Red Rabbits
9. Turn on me
I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

How bad do you feel for that turtle? Abandoned by his friends, shunned by his companions, left alone and scorned by his own brothers. Ok, maybe a little too dramatic for turtles? It's a funny picture anyway…
