Getting to know Laura and Audrey from the French Fan Site, 16 Lunes Forum
We here at Caster Girls decided to interview Laura and Audrey from the French fan site, 16 Lunes Forum. We were interested in knowing why they chose to start the site and just getting to know them. Here is a picture of both of them with Margie.
CG: Why did you start the 16 Lunes forum?
Laura : Strangely, I liked 16 Lunes before its official release. The site of Hachette Jeunesse, lecture-academy, published an extract and I knew I would love the book. I loved the cover, the synopsis and the first chapters… so I contacted Audrey, who already read 16 Lunes in thanks to a contest, to talk about the book and an eventual forum to assemble all the fans. Thus was born our beloved forum ! And now, it contains 378 members and 26000 messages. We’re very proud !
Audrey : I wanted to create a place for all the fans of Beautiful Creatures (16 Lunes in French). I read the book before its publication and I won a contest to meet Margaret. When Laura contacted me to speak about it, she hadn’t read the book yet but she invited me to create the forum. I accepted with enthusiasm because I tried alone but the design was too complicated for me. Today we are proud of our baby.
CG: Who is your favorite character from the books and why?
Audrey : Macon ! I love this character ! He’s protective of his niece, his true nature is very interesting, it’s not something usually found in YA. He’s mysterious and “so British”, he remains calm in any situation, and his relation with Lila is so cute ! Of course I also love Ridley, Link, Ethan & Lena but if I must choose any one, it’s him!
Laura : I hate this question, lol. All the characters have a particular thing which makes me love them. Like Audrey, I adore Macon (for the same reasons !). But I’m a huge fan of Ridley too, I appreciate her personality, her « bad side » and her relationship with Link, an excellent character who makes me laugh a lot ! But of course, Lena and Ethan are also adorable… they’re so cute together, and I love them. Yes, I told you, I can’t choose
CG: What did you like so much about 16 Lunes and why?
Laura : I don’t know what I liked so much about 16 (& 17) Lunes. The first thing which makes me want to read the book is the story. No vampires, no werewolves… but a strange dream and a mysterious girl. What else ?! Ethan’s point of view also intrigued me. It’s original to read a story told by a teenage boy – and not just any teenage boy ! Moreover, the special atmosphere and the part of history that emerges from the book is captivating, and the characters are all touching and interesting. How can you not fall in love ? Especially with the writing of Kami and Margie… In brief, I love everything in the Caster Chronicles ;)
Audrey : The first thing that I liked is the atmosphere, the sound with the past of The Civil War, the heavy side which is present. Of course the boy’s narration is very interesting and Ethan is attracting, following his thoughts is a pleasure. All the characters are captivating, Ridley, I love this bad girl and her lollipop, Link, the best friend which is of all the adventures, Amma & Macon, the adult with past troubles. And I don’t speak of the new characters that divide opinion. Personally I like both John the lost bad boy and Liv who loves Ethan.
CG: If you could have any Caster power what would it be and why?
Laura : I’d would like to Kelt, as Lena and Ethan. It’s something that I love in their relationship, it’s intimate. Sometimes, I think it would be practice to tell the things we can say aloud in thanks to the kelting… Otherwise, it would be so cool if I’d be a thaumaturge !
Audrey : It’s a good question ! I think I’d like to be like Lena’s grandmother, empathetic, because I can’t chose one Caster power, lol. This way I can borrow the power of others Casters.
CG: What are some of your hobbies?
Laura : I won’t be original, but I’m a huge reader, lol. I read a lot, like a book every one or two days, and I write too… I’m also a big fan of music (I like a bit of everything… french music, paramore, 30 seconds to mars, Avril Lavigne, Muse, Joshua Radin,…) and I do a lot of graphic design (wallpapers, banners, avatars and web design…)… I don’t do sports or anything like that, lol.
Audrey : Seriously, yes I read, but I like film and tv too. I love music, I’m a fan of Muse, 30 seconds to mars, The Fray, recently Laura introduced me to Joshua Radin and much more. I’m part of a reading committee for a publishing house. I like to walk in the ancient Roman city where I live.
CG: What is your favorite book, other than 16 Lunes?
Laura : I can’t choose just one book… The wolves of Mercy Falls, by Maggie Stiefvater, it’s maybe the saga that I like the most after the Caster Chronicles, but I’m in love with the books of Sarah Dessen and those of Beth Fantaskey too. And I recently discovered Delirium by Lauren Olivier… I fell in love with it !
Audrey : I can’t choose one book. There are several series that I particularly like. Interview with a vampire by Anne Rice is a reference for me ! The first book on vampire that I have read, I was 14. Mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs is a very good story with werewolf, vampires and fairies. The heroine is a mechanic half-coyote. The wolves of Mercy Falls, I read the first volume and I love Sam ! Linger (Fièvre in French), the second volume is in my library. Aspect of Crow by Jeri Smith-Ready is an adult romantic fantasy trilogy about a world where humans and animals meet in magic, where on woman’s strength must conquer Death itself. The Dark Hunter of Sherrilyn Kenyon is the first series that I really followed. The mixture of Greek mythology, Atlantis, vampires and werewolves excites me ! Of course, I read French authors in fantastic fiction.
